Rollers Bowls Day another resounding success

The Rollers held their second annual Bowls Day fundraiser at the Mowbray Bowls Club on Saturday – and again it prove a great success.

In bright sunshine with Table Mountain as the backdrop, 20 teams showed up for a day of fun, laughs and great memories.

And, following the prize-giving just after 4pm, the 70-odd participants all had the same thing to say – we’ll be back next year!

With last year’s champion, Neville Cooper, absent because of work, the title was up for grabs. Once again Ryan Cooper was in the final, and this year was pipped to the honour by Hannes Engelbrecht and his Stywe Lyne team.

Also great to see was how many teams opted to dress up for the day, with opinion split as to who was the best. So to Andrew Young and his Parow Bats, and Tim Sant and his Hawaii 4.0 teams went the best dressed awards.

Congratulations to the Silver Fox Gerald Jooste on winning the main raffle prize, a coffee table to be made by Jacques Laubscher, who put his hamstring problems aside to finish as one of the top four teams.

Final word of thanks to everyone who helped in the organising of the event, and to our main sponsor, Steven from Cape Style Wines, for some brilliant hampers, as well as other sponsors in Prima Toys, Amigos, Adidas and various individual prizes.
