It was a day of firsts on Sunday as the Rollers played a first-ever T20, Michael van Dewenter scored runs and George Kamfer got a wicket.
Playing against Kelvin Grove for the first time in a number of years, the Rollers batted first in the blistering heat and got off to a flying start as the Cooper brothers put on 53 for the first wicket in six overs before Neville was bowled for 16.
Ryan retired on 53 shortly afterwards, but the runs kept on flowing as Francois Siebrits (15), Andrew Young (13) and Hennie de Villiers (26) got stuck into the bowling.
Big Mike was next in, coming off a horror run of form and a two successive first-ballers, but he finally carried some net form onto the pitch as he smashed the bowling to all parts, hitting four towering sixes before retiring on 51.
Ruan de Jongh (7), Mark Haselau (9*) and George (11) ensured we comfortably got past 200, setting the hosts an imposing 226 to win in 20 overs.
It was always going to be a bridge too far, despite the small field and rubbish catching, though one gent had a slightly different view. Bossie Clarke peppered the boundaries before retiring on 50, and then came back and destroyed all bowling figures with a brutal assault which eventually saw him last man out on 118 (10×6, 11×4).
Still, the Rollers were comfortable winners by 41 runs, with Big Mike (2/17), George (1/14) and Francois (1/14) the pick of the bowlers.
