Cornell Keulder and Jarryd van Wyk were the big winners at the West Coast Rollers’ end-of-season awards held on Saturday evening.
Cornell was named Player of the Season and Allrounder of the Season following a stellar campaign which yielded 237 runs at an average of 39.5 and at a strike-rate of 116.18, while he also picked up 11 wickets at 6.9 apiece.
Jarryd was named Batsman of the Season after scoring 269 runs at an average of 44.83 and at an incredible strike-rate of 144.62. He also won Performance of the Season for his 70 not out off 52 balls which won us the game at Cape Town Cricket Club. 43 of those runs came off the last three overs as the Rollers won with two deliveries to spare.
Nicky Rheeder was named Bowler of the Season after picking up 16 wickets at an average of 11.5 at a run-rate of 5.1 to the over.
Ryan Cooper was named Best Fielder for taking 13 catches and a stumping, while at the same time getting the bucket award for dropping four catches.
The coveted Players’ Player of the Season trophy was taken home by Rollers veteran and owner of the game’s greatest beard Mark Haselau.
Among the fun awards, Peter Muller was named Rookie of the Season, Nicky Rheeder is the new Chairman of the Duckfarm for his four ducks (3 of which came in the space of 4 deliveries), while Leon ‘Faceplant’ Theron got the Claude Louw Medic award.
